Trans charities

This is my personal favourite list of trans charities and non-profits.

1) Trans Santa - Trans Santa is a charity that works as a middle man between the donor and the person in need. The trans person (under 25 years old) in need creates an amazon wish list of items they would like. They then fill out a form , and complete a message which will be posted to the Trans Santa instagram account along with the person's wish list link. Then helpful stangers can read the message and purchase items for the trans person from their wish list The items on the wish lists generally include gender affirming items such as clothes that a young trans person may not be able to purchase due to either fear of judgement from family, or lack of monetary means to do so. - I rate Trans Santa so highly as it is a charity I have actually used myself.

2) Trans Aid Cymru - TransAid Cymru began life as a local mutual aid group in Cardiff, called South Wales Trans Nonbinary Mutual Aid (or SWTN Mutual Aid). They set up in June 2020 after the Conservative Government scrapped the promised GRA reform. They offer many services and activities such as , sober social events, dog walks, grants to help with the costs of your transition, they can also help with loss of housing due to your gender identity, and much more. Their Ethos is "At the core of what we do is the fundamental principle of mutual aid: that we are all responsible for caring for one another and changing our conditions. We can’t wait for any political system or charity to save us. We have to help each other" - Again I also rate trans aid cymru very highly as they are a charity who I have also frequently used.

3) Stonewall Uk"At Stonewall, we stand for lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, questioning and ace (LGBTQ+) people everywhere. We imagine a world where all LGBTQ+ people are free to be ourselves and can live our lives to the full."

4) Gendered Intelligence - Is a trans-led and trans-involving grassroots organisation with a wealth of lived experience, community connections of many kinds, and a depth and breadth of trans community knowledge that is second to none. They believe everyone can be intelligent about gender!

5) GIRES - The Gender Identity Research & Education Society is a UK wide organisation whose purpose is to improve the lives of trans and gender diverse people of all ages, including those who are non-binary and non-gender. GIRES is a professionally managed membership charity supported by volunteers that, in collaboration with other groups in its field, hears, helps, empowers and gives a voice to trans and gender diverse individuals, including those who are non-binary and non-gender, as well as their families. They us evidence from individuals’ lived experiences, combined with scientific research into gender identity development, to educate all those who are able to improve trans and gender diverse individuals’ wellbeing. They contribute to policy development regarding equality and human rights for individuals, especially in healthcare.

6) Transgender NI - Is a human rights and community organisation for trans and gender diverse people in Northern Ireland. Based at their groundbreaking community centre, the Belfast Trans Resource Centre, They work tirelessly to protect and promote the rights and services that our community need.

7) Strands for Trans - Not a charity per say, however they do offer a map of all trans friendly barbers and salons across the US, Canada, Mexico, UK, Netherlands, Czechia, Finland & Australia. However if you know any trans friendly barbers or salons anywhere in the world, please let them know about this and get them to register as part of Strands for trans.
